Emily Claire (aka Kiwi) has an awesome birthday

On Emily's 12th birthday, she went to New York

Her big sister Rose, who she hadn't seen for almost two years, turned up.

She met some interesting characters.

She got to visit the Natural History Museum (home to Night at the Museum)

Where she met further interesting characters.

When she left the museum, it was SNOWING!

With her family, she went to the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square to celebrate.

Everyone in the cafe sang Happy Birthday!!

That was her NZ-time birthday. It's a well known fact that when you're travelling you get to have two-day birthdays: one in NZ time and one in US time.

Unfortunately, her family decided that for her US birthday she should some spend some time Appreciating Art.

But they made up for it, by taking her for lunch at a local Japanese restaurant (not as good as Yatai, our local, but it did make up for her longing for sushi).

And the highlight of the whole birthday? Learning to skate at the Rockefeller Center. Oh my!

Very possibly the Best. Birthday. Ever. Happy Birthday Emily Claire MacKay: may your year be as happy and  memorable as your birthday(s)!

  2. Hi Lisa
I know Barbara from Yatai (been there - yum- and we do Zumba Gold classes together) so when I saw her today I told her your comment that the New York Japanese restaurant wasn't as good as Yatai. She was touched and pleased.
Keep warm. It's too warm here for me now.
    Cheers
    Megan

    1. Hi Megan: thanks so much for passing that on to Barbara - nothing compares to Yatai! And if you're too warm, come to Vermont - it's -11 degrees and snowing - and there are lots of geocaching opportunities (though you need a lot of determination and warm clothing to go digging for caches in this snow)!
